In anterior tension headaches, after a 20-minute session of Program 1, you are likely to experience migraine relief with a window of around two hours during which it could be beneficial to repeat the Cefaly treatment again. The pain will disappear or the period of instability will last for a further two hours.
The electrodes are good for 10 to 15 sessions depending on usage and storage. The conductive gel needs to stay moist in order to work properly. Once the gel dries, the electrode needs to be changed. We suggest keeping it in a zip-lock bag between uses. Electrodes can also be reactivated by adding a few drops of water to the gel.
You may use soap and water to cleanse the forehead when wipes run out.

The more the intensity is increased, the higher the dose and therefore the more effective the relief of migraines. The threshold of effectiveness varies from one individual to another. Generally, the intensity should be increased for 6 to 8 minutes in order to step up to the effective zone.
There are very few contraindications to Cefaly’s use. Cefaly headache relief should not be attempted while driving, after recent trauma to the skull or face or where skin conditions or rashes are present in the area of the forehead where the electrode is placed.

Usually I get a headache in the afternoon when it’s very cloudy and it’s going to rain but it doesn’t. Is this for that type of headache?
These headaches are caused by ‘atmospheric depression’ and are a tension headache. Usually these are mild headaches that can be solved with aspirin, paracetamol or ibuprofen. Cefaly suits more severe migraine sufferers where these drugs are no longer efficient.
My migraines occur daily and can come on during the afternoon or night. I have been on medication for the last 10 years and have found I am having to take more regular doses in order to stop the pain. My medication is Imigran 100mg tablets and as a back up I have the Imigran injection, I also take paracetemol.
There are 2 ways for you to use Cefaly. For prevention, make a session with Program 3 every day. Start in the beginning of the afternoon before your migraines start. This regular use of Cefaly on Program 3 or 2 is going to progressively reduce the frequency of your migraines. You can begin to expect fewer migraines and sometimes see quick improvement. As a migraine cure, use Program 1 as much as needed during (40 up to 120 minutes) to reduce pain. This can also help reduce any dosage of Imigran or avoid its use. However, it takes several uses of Cefaly to get there. Prevention use will help you a lot. A change to weekly migraines instead of daily attacks can change your situation quickly.
